Saint Kinga discovers the salt mines in Bochnia.
Saint Kinga (1234-1292) - daughter of the Hungarian king Bela IV and the duchess of Krakow and Sandomierz as the wife of Bolesław the Chaste. She was engaged at the age of five, and the wedding took place when she was twelve. Together with her husband, she took a vow of chastity, which earned Bolesław his unfavorable nickname. She was famous for her piety, she supported the Church, she was also credited with a significant influence on the development of the Polish mining industry. After the death of the prince, she entered the convent of Poor Clares in Stary Sącz, which she founded. She was only canonized in 1999.
