Where did the Inuit tribe get its name?

There is no tribe called the Inuit. The term "Inuit" is an endonym used by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic regions of North America. The word "Inuit" means "people" in the Inuktitut language. The term "Eskimo" is an exonym used by non-Inuit to refer to the Inuit peoples, and it is considered to be offensive by many Inuit people.
