archaeological essence

Tham Seng Meng is a rock shack formed by the stacking of large stones on Phu Hua Na. One of the sandstone mountains in the Phu Phan Mountain Range The cliff shed faces west. It is about 4 kilometers south of Handan Cave.

The nature of the source is a rock that is 8 meters wide, 13 meters long, or about 1.8 meters thick, located in the middle of a stone courtyard that is 70x70 meters wide.

The image found under the cliff or the low stone ceiling. Which must be inserted into the bed to view the almost full wall The survey and study indicated that the field of vision was not able to control the entire image, had to move slowly while still lying on his back, looking at one point at a time. Because the ceiling and the floor are about 50 centimeters apart, sometimes only 30 centimeters from the eye distance. This distance is too close, the author of the image must determine the area and place the image first. Otherwise, the image position cannot be controlled as needed (Phayao Khemnak 1996 :104)

There are 2 types of images found, namely the image of a human hand and the image of a symbol (Phayao Khemnak 1996 :104-105).

Pictures of hands There are 31 images, and a number that cannot be counted. These 31 images have small hands. (The size of a child's hand), a medium-sized hand and an adult-sized hand. They have both left and right hands.

There are 3 images of the child's hand, 1 on the left and 2 on the right.

28 images of adult hands, 2 left hands, 14 right hands, 12 images cannot be distinguished.

There are two techniques for making hand-drawn images:

1. Use hand paint and apply it on the wall, called handprint Found 29 pictures, 2 of which were children's hands, both left and right. 16 images of adult hands, 2 left hands, 14 right hands, 11 images cannot be differentiated.

2. Use hand paint and scrape off some paint from the palm of your hand, it is called artificial handprint made into a spiral-like pattern Then place it on the stone wall. There are 2 pictures, 1 picture is a child's right hand, an adult hand can't tell whether left or right 1 picture.

Pictures Characteristics of writing lines mixed with pictures of hands. It is mostly the use of straight lines to create images. use less curves by making a rectangular shape of various sizes to be joined together to form an image inserted with a hand image Some images are overlaid with images of hands. I can't see what's on top of the picture.

The source of paintings of Tham Seng Meng and Tham Handwriting are both located in Tambon Nong Hang. Kuchinarai District Located on the same hill, 4 kilometers apart, the painter chose the cliff on the west side of the hill. which has a flat area and the archaeological site at Non Ban Hang Pla Fa and Ban Nong Hang as well The study author assumed that the authors of the images were probably the same group (Phayao Khemnak 1996 :105).
