Wat Maha Pho is an abandoned archaeological site that has been excavated. restoration and improve the landscape Located within the city of Chiang Saen on the northeast side. next to the road along the Mekong (West side) enter about 80 meters away from the city wall on the north, about 100 meters south, next to Wat Mongkhon. (located to the southwest of Wat Mongkhon) and about 200 meters west of the Mekong River. The surrounding conditions are agricultural areas of the villagers.

No evidence of construction but the villagers call "Wat Maha Pho" because there is a Bodhi tree in front of the temple. Important buildings within the temple are temple and pagoda It is assumed that it was built around the 21st Buddhist century.

Important historical sites within the temple include a viharn, a pagoda, a chapel, an ancient well, a brick building, and a toilet?

The Temple Appears the brick base is holding mortar. Rectangular plan, about 10 meters wide, about 25 meters long, facing east. There are stairs leading up both in front and on both sides, especially on the north side, there are 2 stairs. Inside the viharn, there are 2 rows of circular columns made of bricks, 4 each row. At the end of the viharn on a stucco Buddha statue is enshrined on a pedestal base.

Jedi It is located behind or on the west side of the temple. Brick masonry The diagram of the bottommost base is square. About 14 meters wide on each side, the base at the bottom is the base of the palace. Next up is a chopping board base to support 2 lotus base sets, stacked in a package layout. Belly decorated with glass beads, chicken breast The northern part collapsed. From the shape of the base of the chedi, it is assumed that this chedi is probably a Lanna-style bell-shaped chedi. Ubosot It is located to the north of the temple. with brick walkways connected between them Characteristics of the chapel made of bricks and mortar facing west Rectangular plan, approximately 14 meters wide, approximately 17 meters long, with stairs leading up both the front and both sides, surrounded by stone parapets. On the west side there is a brick walkway leading out. Next to the walkway is an ancient well masonry.

On the north side of the ordination hall, there is a base of a small building made of bricks. Assuming it might be toilet ? Currently located under a large tree.

Farther east of the chapel There is 1 small brick building with a rectangular plan. facing south There is a staircase leading up to the front. Currently on the building there is a large tree. Including the leaders of the Phra Phum Shrine that are no longer used to be placed on the building.

In front of the temple area is a large Bodhi tree. Around the Bodhi tree, there are many prongs. There is a pavilion enshrining a Buddha image in the front.
