More than 200 pyramids along the Nile are simply not part of the famous and incredible Egyptian legacy, as they are actually a collection of the Kingdom of Kush and which occupied areas of present-day Sudan. In this African kingdom cities were formed and Méroe is one of the most impressive. At Meroe, small, narrow, sharply angled pyramids were built between 2,700 and 2,300 years ago. The decorative elements were eclectic, suffering foreign influences from Egypt, Greece and Rome.
