"NEVADA":The American battleship was found at a depth of 4,693 m - PHOTO

Two private companies have announced that they have discovered the wreck of the battleship USS Nevada about 65 nautical miles southwest of Pearl Harbor. The photos of the remains, in fact, show that parts of the ship remain intact. The search for the remains of the American warship was also made possible thanks to several autonomous underwater vehicles, which can explore depths greater than about 5,900 meters.

James Delgado, vice president of Search, said:“The ship withstood torpedoes, bombs, shells and two atomic bomb blasts. The physical entity of the ship, located in the darkness of the great museum of the sea, reminds us not only of past events, but also of those who took up the challenge to defend the USA in two world wars.

The USS “Nevada” saw action in World War I. She was seriously damaged during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor but was repaired and took part in operations in the Pacific. After the war it was used as a target in the atomic bomb tests in the Bikini Islands but it did not sink! It was then towed to Hawaii where it was used as a target by other American battleships but still did not sink... To sink it had to be hit by American aircraft. The shipwreck was discovered at a depth of 4,693 m.
