Excalibur

Daughter of the ancient gods, Excalibur is a magic sword that finally gave them access to rest. Tireless crusader, she was the iron of the advent of Christianity.

In those times, Uther Pendragon was dead. The divided Britains sank into chaos. The legend proclaims that Merlin, in this discord would have stuck a sword in the rock in front of the castle. Excalibur will only be wielded by the great king of the Bretons. All the barons tried in vain, then the knights. Only a page named Arthur succeeded in removing it from its base and thus became the king of Brittany. However, doubts exist as to the origin of Excalibur:according to Sir Thomas Malory, English knight of the 15th century who condensed in a single work a large part of the Arthurian gesture, in particular French writings, it would have been given by the first Lady of the Lake, who is said to have preceded Viviane, the sword removed from the granite stele having previously been broken in combat against King Pellinor, father of Sir Lamorat of Wales (considered the third knight in the world, after Sirs Lancelot and Tristan ) and Perceval le Gallois. To win the sword, Arthur made a promise to the Lady of the Lake and did not keep his word, the latter having been decapitated before his eyes, in his castle. Merlin would have asked Arthur, "Which of the two is more precious?" The sword or the scabbard? Arthur answered, “The sword, sure. “Wrong, it is the scabbard because, as long as you have it, your enemies will not be able to kill. The king's sister, having heard of this, had the scabbard stolen and gave it to her lover, with the mission of killing Arthur. However, thanks to the intervention of Sir Hector des Mares, the cousin of Lancelot de Bénoic, he was saved and was able to recover his precious scabbard.

Worthy son of Uther, Excalibur at his side, King Arthur united and pacified the two Britains. Upon his death, the sword was thrown into a magical lake by Bedivere. The sword had a reputation for being unbreakable (just like Roland's Durandal) and for cutting through any material
