World History:The Tehran Conference (1943)

Between November 28 and December 1, the Tehran Conference , important meeting between the allied leaders Winston Churchill (United Kingdom), Franklin D. Rossevelt (USA) and Jozef Stalin (Soviet Union), in which the actions to end the Nazi forces during World War II are established. The choice of a city like Tehran, the capital of Persia (today Iran) was due to the fact that Churchill and Roosevelt agreed to carry it out in the location that was most comfortable for the arrival of Stalin. In fact, it was the first meeting of the allies in which the Soviet leader participated.

In this meeting, the area of ​​northern France was defined to carry out the allied landing, in what later became known as D-Day or the Normandy landings.

With the recent Soviet success over Nazi troops, the mood is quite hopeful. Its agreements include:the opening of a second front in Western Europe, the partition and dismemberment of Germany after the end of the war, the displacement of the Polish border to the west in favor of the territory of the USSR, the Soviet commitment to declare war on Japan and the organization of the future UN. All these agreements were recorded in the minutes that were drawn up on the last day of conferences, December 1.
