Five centuries of the Sistine Chapel

In 1512 the Sistine Chapel was inaugurated (imposing architectural complex built between 1471 and 1484, in the Vatican) with a decoration made up of frescoes on the walls, vaults and domes, made by the most outstanding plastic artists of the time such as Sandro Botticelli and Pietro Perugino , in which they represent various images and passages from the Bible. Without a doubt, it is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel , painted entirely by Michelangelo Buonarotti (or Michelangelo, 1475-1564), one of the most admired pictorial works in history. The artist, who initially wanted to reject the commission due to its monumentality, made this ambitious project a reality after four years of intense and risky work. To this day, millions of tourists from all over the world visit the Sistine Chapel to appreciate the work of Michelangelo , which has been restored on more than one occasion. Although there are other works by the Renaissance painter in the chapel, the central vault is the most famous, with the 9 scenes from Genesis that he captured for posterity.
