History of Europe

If you're a foodie, watch out for the music

According to the RAE dictionary, sybarite is:Native of Síbaris . City founded by the Achaeans in 720 BC. and located in Italy. The inhabitants of this city, the Sybarites, were famous for their exquisiteness and refinement. Hence, this term has remained to designate people who love exquisite pleasures.

In addition to living well, the sybarites were also famous for being excellent horsemen and, even better, horse tamers (I don't know if whispering but with music). His cavalry was worthy of the best school of equestrian art and they moved perfectly together to the sound of music – as if the horses were dancing a dance that they knew perfectly –

Horse taming

In 510 BC attacked the city of Crotone , south of Sybaris. His majestic cavalry lined up and ready for the attack, but the people of Crotona, Crotonesi?, knew the military tactics of the Sybarites. When the cavalry was ordered to charge, a strange and arrhythmic melody began to intermingle with the music played by the Sybarites. The mix of 'tunes' confused the horses and caused a total mess among the sybaritic cavalry. Crotona took advantage of this moment to attack and annihilate the cavalry. With the best of Sybaris' army defeated, they entered the city and completely destroyed it.
