How was the new year celebrated in Lima during the last century?

Many traditions of the city of Lima disappeared or were transformed. Some affirm that all 'past time was better', while others will simply say that 'all past time was... previous'
Many will remember the 'rain of papers' that was in the center of the city, when in the mornings bureaucrats windows, on their last working day of the year, threw almanacs, copies and all kinds of documents that they would no longer use in the coming year.
While the files of the offices were empty, the streets were filled with waste that the cleaning staff would later have to clean. Currently, on the morning of January 1 of each year, the streets continue to be littered with debris, only now they are the remains of rockets and fireworks from the night before. Now any entity that threw such a quantity of papers from a building would be fined.



Festival dress was also different. The ladies wore dresses and decorated their heads with hats. In the following photo, you can see how a woman from Lima dressed in the 1920s for special dates:
As it still is today, the morning of January 1st would probably be a beach day for many. In the 1950s, La Herradura, located in Chorrillos, was the most emblematic beach in the city:
