Diana of Poitiers, Paladina (and Victim) of Botox Ante Litteram

Portrait of Diana of Poitiers

Diana of Poitiers (1499-1566), mistress of the Duke of Orleans, future Henry II of France, could be considered a sort of champion of beauty treatments ante litteram.

The botox she was still far away but, on the other hand, the woman did not miss anything of what she was then available to preserve the youth of her face and body.

Too bad that the results were almost never what we hoped for and, above all, we ended up ruining our health for nothing.

The woman, considered one of the most beautiful of the 16th century, maniacally entrusted herself to the odd care of improvised alchemists, who filled her with potions that were bizarre, as well as dangerous, to say the least; Diana is said to have been drinking infusions of gold and mercury in order to remain young and attractive. .

A habit that, combined with other equally insane ones, led to her death from poisoning at the age of 66.
