Women take care of their hair since ancient times, even with methods that may appear bizarre today, but which were the only ones available or the most effective in their time.

There have been several women's beauty manuals dating back to the 1600s , all generous with tips and recipes to be more beautiful and to improve the appearance of the hair, which even then were dyed or lightened.

To become blondes or give their hair warm golden reflections, the Venetian ladies of the time frequently exposed themselves to the sun with their hair gathered and covered with a mixture based on urine and vinegar .

The result, thanks above all to the natural reaction of ammonia contained in the pee, they were fashionable shades that ranged, depending on the starting color, from golden yellow to the famous "Titian red ".
