Athens celebrates the anniversary of its liberation

In view of this year's anniversary of the liberation of Athens from the German occupation, a series of actions will take place.

These actions, which start this Saturday and will last until the 23rd of the month, are co-organized for the fifth year by the Municipality of Athens, the Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament for Parliamentaryism and Democracy, the Region of Attica, the General Archives of the State and ERT.

And they are addressed to people of all ages, so that the anniversary of the liberation, on October 12, 1944, emerges as a great celebration of the city.

In particular, they include exhibitions, such as the "14 Stories of Resistance" in Eleftheria Park and the "Trenches of Memory 1941 - 1944" in Villa Zografou, a historical walk on the theme of "Resistance and dosisilogism in occupied Athens", a musical performance with Dimitris Mystakidis in the Field of Areos, speech event and theatrical lecture at the National Theater with testimony from Alki Zei and Manos Zacharias, tour of the workshop of the sculptor Yiannis Pappas, film screenings at Trianon and the Italian Educational Institute, tour of the history of hiding antiquities at the National Archaeological Museum, race of memory and honor from Haidari to Kaisariani, etc.
