Historical story

Berlin Olympic Village

The celebration of the 1936 Olympics was agreed by the International Olympic Committee in 1931. These games would mean the return of Germany to the international scene. This would be the second time that Berlin was chosen as the venue for the Olympic Games. In 1916 the German capital was going to host the games, but due to the First World War they were suspended.

After Hitler came to power in 1933, the '36 Olympics would be a magnificent opportunity to promote his dictatorship abroad. The objective was to whiten the image of a regime whose atrocities were already being heard. Thanks to the professionalism of the Nazi propagandists, the games were a success. The luxury facilities built for them helped in this goal.
