Leclerc Charles Victor-Emmanuel (1772 1802)

He befriended Bonaparte from the capture of Toulon, from then on he followed him to Italy and distinguished himself at Rivoli . He married Pauline Bonaparte in 1797 and took part in the 18 Brumaire. He was then commander of the Saint-Domingue expedition where Toussaint-Louverture, "the Black Bonaparte" led a guerrilla war. Leclerc manages to arrest him and restore order. But the restoration of slavery in 1802 revived hostilities. The valiant general succumbed to yellow fever the same year.
