Barnave Antoine(1761 - 1793)

Brilliant speaker of the National Constituent Assembly, he forms with Lameth and Duport the opposition to Mirabeau and the right . He joined the Jacobins and became president of the Assembly in October 1790. After the episode of Varennes, he fell in love with the queen and became a defender of a constitutional monarchy. His popularity was dismantled by Robespierre and Pétion de Villeneuve. In 1792, he was arrested by the Legislative for his relations with the Court. He will be guillotined under the Terror.
