73. Sardar believed that if the country had not been partitioned, then everything would have gone out of our hands.

While expressing his views on the Mountbatten plan in the Congress session on 14 June 1947, Govind Vallabh Pant said- 'The only way to achieve independence is the acceptance of the plan of June 3, 1947. Describing the necessity of the partition of India, Sardar Patel said- 'If a part of the body is damaged, it is right to remove it soon, so that the poison does not spread in the whole body. I am ready to give some part of India to get rid of Muslim League.'

Thus the countrymen accepted the decision of partition of India with a heavy heart. On 7 August 1947, Jinnah left India forever and went to Karachi. The day after Jinnah's departure, Sardar Patel made a statement- 'The poison was removed from the body of India.

We are one now and no one can separate us now. There cannot be pieces of river or sea water. As far as Muslims moving to Pakistan are concerned, their roots, their religious places and centers are here. I don't know what they will do in Pakistan. Very soon they will come back to us.'

After getting independence, Sardar said - 'If Pakistan was not accepted, then a unit of Pakistan would have been established in every office. . Whatever India is left, it should be taken, otherwise the whole of India will get out of hand.

That is why Sardar Patel said in his statement- 'The only way to make India strong and secure is to organize the rest of India. …….After partition we can make at least 75 or 80 percent of the part powerful, the rest can be made Muslim League.” After independence, in November 1947, Sardar Patel made a statement in Nagpur- ‘We are like that at that time. We had reached the stage that if we had not accepted the partition of the country, then everything would have gone out of our hands.'
