The oldest building in Brazil is known as the "Castle of Garcia d'Ávila", located in Barra do Una, Bahia, Brazil. The Portuguese explorer Garcia d'Ávila started its construction in 1500. It is a well-preserved sixteenth-century fort that was built by the Portuguese settlers as a defense against foreign invaders.
