Where does the last name presgraves originated from?

Presgraves is a habitational name from Presgreaves in Yorkshire, England. The place name is composed of the Old English elements Presta, a personal name or a byname meaning “priest,” and graf, “grove.” Presgraves is therefore a habitational name for someone from Presgreaves. However, there was in existence an early surname Presgrave long before this, meaning Priest’s Grove from its first known bearer William de Presgrave (born late 1000s).
