Ancient history

Who invented wheat farming?

There is no specific inventor of wheat farming as it was developed over time through various agricultural practices. The origins of wheat farming date back to the Fertile Crescent region, which includes parts of the Middle East, around 10,000 BC. Early human settlements in this area began cultivating wild grasses, including wild wheat species, as part of their agricultural practices. Over centuries, through selective breeding and cultivation techniques, ancient farmers gradually domesticated and improved the wheat plants, leading to the development of modern wheat varieties. The knowledge of wheat farming spread to different parts of the world through migration, trade, and cultural exchanges, contributing to its widespread adoption as a staple food crop.
