What did Alexander the Great inherit from Phillip Second?

Upon the assassination of his father, Philip II, in 336 BC, Alexander inherited the kingdom of Macedon, an influential ancient Greek state centred in the plains at the northwestern edge of the Aegan. Philip left his 20-year-old son a strong kingdom with a highly motivated and experienced army (considered among the strongest fighting forces in the world at the time) and a full treasury.
