What were two centers of power during the middle ages?

1. The Church: The Catholic Church was a major center of power during the Middle Ages. It controlled large amounts of land, wealth, and political influence. The Pope was the head of the Church and was considered to be the spiritual leader of all of Europe.

2. The Holy Roman Empire: The Holy Roman Empire was the other major center of power during the Middle Ages. It was a large and powerful political entity that included much of Europe. The Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire was the head of state and was considered to be the temporal leader of all of Europe.
