Why does mohenjo daro mean the mound of dead?

The term "Mohenjo Daro" does not mean "the mound of dead". Its name is derived from the Sindhi words "Moen jo Daro", which means "Mound of the Dead". This name was given to the site by locals due to the large number of skeletons that were found there during early excavations. However, this term is a misnomer as the skeletons belonged to individuals who died during a devastating flood and not as a result of violence or any other man-made calamity.
