Did the beginning of English literature influence Catholic Church?

There is no direct influence of the beginning of English literature on the Catholic Church. English literature as we know it today started developing much later than the establishment and early history of the Catholic Church. The most influential text in English literature, the "Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer, was written in the 14th century, long after the Catholic Church had already established its doctrines, structures, and practices.
