What was the region of Mesopotamia known as fertile Crescent?

Mesopotamia was known as the Fertile Crescent because of its crescent shape and its fertile soil. The region is located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which provided water for irrigation and created a rich agricultural area. The Fertile Crescent was home to some of the earliest civilizations, including the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Assyrians.
