Where did Indian civilization begin?

The first evidence of human settlements in the Indian subcontinent goes back to the Neolithic period, around 7000 BCE. The first major civilization to develop in the region was the Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished between 2500 BCE to 1900 BCE. It was located in the basins of the Indus River wherefore it derives its name. Major urban centers of this civilization were Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa.
