What time period did the seneca tribe exist?

The Seneca people have existed since time immemorial. Their oral history traces their origins to the creation of the world, when they were given the name "Haudenosaunee," meaning "People of the Longhouse." The Seneca are one of the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, which was formed in the 16th century.
