Why were Kings and Queens of the absolute period known as monarchs?

Kings, Queens, and Princes were known as Monarchs because they were viewed as the sole leaders of their respective kingdoms. These leaders often held absolute power over the land, meaning that they had complete authority to make decisions and enforce laws. The term monarch is often used to refer to traditional hereditary rulers who head powerful families or ruling elites. Absolute monarchs have total power over their subjects, and they are not accountable to any other institutions or legal systems.
