Ancient history

How was the Cahto tribe organized?

The Cahto tribe was organized into several patrilineal moieties, each of which was further divided into clans. Each moiety was exogamous, meaning that members of the same moiety could not marry each other. The clans were also exogamous, but there were some exceptions to this rule. For example, a man could marry his father's sister's daughter, even though she was a member of his own clan.

The Cahto tribe was also organized into several villages, each of which was led by a chief. The chief was responsible for making decisions for the village, such as when to plant and harvest crops, when to go on hunting and gathering trips, and when to hold ceremonies. The chief was also responsible for settling disputes between members of the village.

The Cahto tribe had a complex social and political organization that allowed them to live in harmony with their environment and with each other.
