Why was the horse so valauble to western plains Indians?

Transportation and mobility: Horses allowed the Plains Indians to travel swiftly and cover greater distances, enhancing their hunting, raiding, and trading capabilities.

Hunting: Mounted hunts facilitated by horses increased the efficiency and success of bison hunting, a primary source of sustenance for these tribes.

Warfare:Horses became integral to tribal warfare. Warriors on horseback had great manoeuvraility and could effectively employ hit-and-run tactics.

Trade:The acquisition of horses enhanced the tribes' economic opportunities as they obtained additional goods and resources through expanded trade networks

Cultural significance:Horse ownership became a symbol of wealth, prestige, and social status. Horses played a role in ceremonies, rituals, and other cultural practices of the Plains Indians.
