What marked the end of stone age period?

The end of the Stone Age is usually marked by the beginning of the Bronze Age, which is generally considered to have started around 3000 BC in the Near East. The Bronze Age is characterized by the use of bronze, an alloy of copper and tin, for making tools and weapons. The transition from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age was gradual, and it took several centuries for bronze to completely replace stone as the primary material for making tools and weapons.
