The Maya civilisation flourished in the Mesoamerican region, which encompassed what is now southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The Maya civilisation thrived from around 2600 BCE to 900 CE, reaching its peak during the Early Classic Period (250-600 CE) and Late Classic Period (600-900 CE).
Aztecs
The Aztecs were an indigenous people of central Mexico in the early 14th to 16th centuries. They were known as the Mexica, and their empire was called the Mexica Empire, also known as the Aztec Empire. The Aztecs dominated much of central Mexico and were known for their advanced civilisation and culture.
