What country did alcatel originate from?

Alcatel originated from France. It was founded in 1898 in Paris as the Compagnie Générale d'Electricité (CGE). The company later merged with the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1984 and was renamed Alcatel-AT&T. In 1999, the company was renamed again to Alcatel. In 2016, Alcatel was acquired by the Finnish company Nokia.
