What were Inca clothes made of?

The majority of Inca clothing was made from wool, obtained from domesticated llamas and alpacas. Some of their clothing was made of cotton, obtained after trading in the coastal area of the Empire. Inca clothes for the nobility were beautifully made, with intricate motifs and bright colours.

For the nobles, clothes also reflected hierarchy, so different colours and patterns were reserved for different ranks of the nobility. However, clothes were mostly standardized and varied very little from person to person, due to the fact that clothes, like other items, were mass-produced in state-administered factories.
