Why were the Norse gods so violent?

The Norse gods were not inherently violent. While some of the gods, such as Odin and Thor, were associated with warfare and violence, others, such as Frigg and Freyja, were associated with peace and fertility. The Norse gods represented a wide range of human emotions and experiences, and they were not simply good or evil.

The depiction of the Norse gods as violent may be due to several factors. First, the Norse people were a warrior society, and they often relied on violence to solve their problems. This may have influenced their religious beliefs and led them to associate the gods with violence. Second, the Norse myths were often told in a poetic form that emphasized violence and conflict. This may have been done to entertain the audience or to teach lessons about the dangers of violence.

It is important to remember that the Norse gods were not real beings, but rather representations of human ideas and experiences. They were not inherently violent, but they reflected the values and beliefs of the Norse people.
