How did the Mesopotamian reach upper levels of ziggurat?

Ramps

Ziggurats were ascended using ramps. The ancient Mesopotamians constructed their ziggurats with external ramps that wound around the outside of the structure, often in a spiral pattern. These ramps allowed the priests and other religious figures to reach the upper levels of the ziggurat during religious ceremonies and rituals. These ramps sometimes led to a single-room shrine and altar platform at the summit.
