Where were Pajamas invented?

Pajamas, as we know them today with a loose-fitting top and bottoms, originated in South Asia. They can be traced back to the medieval times, where they were originally worn by men and women in the Indian subcontinent. The term "pajama" is believed to come from the Persian word "payjama," which means "leg garment." These traditional garments were usually made from lightweight fabrics such as cotton, linen, or silk and designed for comfort during the hot tropical climate.
