An 1879 silver dollar is a one-dollar coin minted by the United States Mint in 1879. It is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, and weighs 26.73 grams. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Liberty facing to the left, with the words "Liberty" and "In God We Trust" inscribed above her. The reverse of the coin features an eagle with outstretched wings perched on a rock, with the words "United States of America" and "One Dollar" inscribed around it.
