What animals were raised for food in Jamestown early 1600s?

The Jamestown settlers, who arrived in Virginia in 1607, did not raise animals for food in the early years. They were struggling to survive and were dependent on supplies from England.

The early diet of the Jamestown settlers consisted mainly of fish, oysters, and other seafood, as well as corn and other crops that were grown locally. They also relied on food supplies sent by the Virginia Company, the English joint-stock company that financed the Jamestown settlement. These food supplies included salted meat, fish, and other provisions.
