What was the job for a pinder in Medieval Times?

In medieval England, a pinder was a person who was responsible for keeping stray animals out of the common lands and fields.[1] This was done by erecting a structure called a "pound", which was a small walled-in enclosure with a gate, and by impounding, or confining, any animals found wandering in the prohibited areas.

The pinder would impound animals and then charge the owners a fee for releasing them. The money collected in this way would help to support the maintenance of the pound and to pay the pinder's wages.
