Girls from wealthy and royal families were taught practical skills and domestic duties. Their education was limited to reading, writing and arithmetic. Some were exposed to literature and music.
On the other hand, poor and middle class girls were often not educated. They were expected to learn practical skills for working as housewives or maids. Only a small number of girls gained access to advanced education by joining religious communities or receiving private tutelage.
