Sweden remained neutral in World War II. Its only involvement was in sending aircraft, pilots and volunteers to Finland when that country was attacked unprovoked by the Soviet Union and when it trained Norwegian and Danish volunteers against the Germans, but also allowed the passage through the territory of German forces to Finland, against the USSR.
That was her involvement. However, Sweden had a strong, for its size, and quite modern armed forces with the aim of protecting the country from its border - after the occupation of Norway - Germany and the old competitor in the Baltic, the now Soviet Russia.
Sweden has a centuries-old military tradition, despite its "small" size, becoming an empire in the 17th-18th centuries. Her numerically small army was well trained, disciplined and of high morale.
