The Ionians , Ionians or Ionians are one of the peoples of antiquity that helped in the formation of Greek culture (science, philosophy and art).
In addition to them, the Achaeans, Aeolians and Dorians played a leading role in the construction of the Greek world in antiquity.
History
The Ionians arrived in Greek territory around 2000 BC. C. inhabiting part of Peloponnese and Attica, thus altering the entire structure established by other peoples. With a strong military tradition, they violently occupied several regions of Hellas.
Within a warlike and hierarchical society, the Ionians were responsible for the enslavement of several people who inhabited the place, especially the Achaeans and Aeolians.
With the expansion of the Ionian civilization, several buildings were erected from temples, walls and palaces, definitively marking their presence in the territory.
With the passage of time and the foundation of several cities, they formed the “Ionian League”, which was composed of twelve cities:Ephesus, Samos, Priene, Colophon, Clazomenas, Chios, Miletus, Teos, Mionto, Lebedos, Phocea and Erythras. .
With the arrival of the Dorians in Peloponnese, at the end of the pre-Homeric period, the Ionians migrated to the region of Asia Minor, inhabiting part of the place.
