15th century armor
Over time, the armor has evolved, and metal plates, or plates, have appeared to gradually replace the mesh. Indeed, these are not very effective against arrows or thrusting attacks with daggers or rapiers.
One could have an armor mixing mail and plates:the knight wore a shirt (or coat) of mail, even a cuirass, but the arms and the legs were protected by riveted metal plates, and the helmet was adjusted over a gorget. This is sometimes referred to (especially in the context of role-playing games) as half-armor.
