The short magazine rifle Lee-Enfield Mark III armed British and Commonwealth troops from 1907 to the early 1960s. Lee-Metford rifles and cotoya his official successor the Lee Enfield n°4 during the Second World War.
Production
This twist-bolt shotgun, with a long barrel and fore-end, with semi-straight stock, equipped with magazine of 10 blows in .303 British was produced with more than 6 million specimens in England until 1943, in Australia until 1955 and in India until about 1960. It was simplified about 1915 (Lee-Enfield Mk III*) and was renamed in 1926 N°1 Mk 3. The British produced two minor variants (Mk V and Mk VI) prefiguring the N°4. Indian models have minute differences.
