The Marshall Plan

Aware that it will take a long time for Europe to recover, the United States offers financial aid to most of the destroyed countries, so that peace reigns again, but also to seize power over the world. . The Marshall Plan is accepted by many of them, except those who joined the Communist Party. Since Truman was president, McCarthyism has been raging, and the USSR vs. America duel is already well established.
At this time, the power changed ownership. Europe is weakened; the great powers are now the United States and the Soviet Union. And to better reign over the world, the Marshall Plan pushes the European metropolises to separate from their colonies; in this way, France and Great Britain lose their power, essentially due to these foreign lands. From there, the colonized lands will achieve their independence in the years to come (to be seen among others concerning France:the war in Indochina and the war in Algeria). It will be all the easier for capitalism and communism to share the world.

The Iron Curtain

The expression comes from Winston Churchill. He points to the separation from Europe as an insurmountable barrier, both physically and politically. There is a real bipolarization of the world, and countries, or even regions that do not share the same ideologies, are separated in an impermeable way.
But this war that has been described as cold is falsely. If on European, American or Soviet territory the UN seems to have done its job, it is not the same on the side of Asia where capitalism and communism clash. Political systems have gone to war elsewhere than in their territories of origin , and the conflicts take place in Indochina.

Communism vs Capitalism

The Marshall Plan will have greatly contributed to the development of Europe, further widening the gap between the Soviets and the Americans. If the United States planned the reconstruction of Europe thanks to its financial aid, the refusal of the USSR and the partisan countries laid the foundations of the Iron Curtain.
