A ceremony in honor of Satan
The Sabbath, or Devil worship, in which worshipers give Satan their sole commander, is considered the pinnacle of Heresy by the Roman Catholic Church. Indeed, the worship that should be given to God is diverted to the benefit of the devil. Its followers deal with death, deal with hell, enclose demons in certain objects, interrogate and get answers from demons. There are two kinds of Sabbats:the ordinary Sabbat takes place on the night of Friday to Saturday and brings together the witches of the neighborhood. The Ecumenical Sabbath takes place three to four times a year:it brings together all the witches from everywhere. They get there by flying on a broomstick or with an “evil” animal. At night, associated with darkness according to beliefs and therefore closely linked to Evil, the ceremony takes place at midnight in an isolated place, such as a cemetery, the top of a mountain or at a crossroads.
The celebration primarily includes a tribute to the devil in the form of incantations or infanticide. When the thunder sounds and the light of lightning comes, the name of Christ is vomited into the circle of evil drawn on the ground. Then follow blasphemous words, as well as the trampling of hosts and the breaking of a crucifix. After listing the Maleficia [1] accomplished, the sorcerers and witches prepare evil potions, then go to the table in front of a banquet composed of black bread, carrion, porridge of human flesh and the hearts of unbaptized children. As Satan registers his followers in the civil registry of hell, his followers promise to recruit men or women to enlarge the demonic sect. The alliance is sealed by the “mark of the devil” that Satan engraves with his claw on the body of the partisan:this part of the body therefore belongs to the Evil One, and consequently becomes insensitive to pain.
