Little is known about the way of dressing of the ancients, but through inscribed drawings, paintings on vases, walls and statues one can get an idea. The Egyptians wore only white clothes indicating power and wealth.
Only the wealthy of the upper class were able to dress and this privilege was only valid for adults. The men wore a fabric covering their private parts, looking like a kind of diaper, and the women wore a kind of dress tied in the back with their breasts exposed.
As time passed, women began to cover their breasts and men wore increasingly larger skirts to cover themselves. As time passed, people began to wear robes with a hole in the middle for the head and tied around the waist. The Persians were the first to make adjustments to their clothes and this made it easier for them to move around, hunt and work.
