Hominids fit for survival (c. 2mi BC - Africa)
It took more than 1 million years for hominids to develop bigger brains and improve their manual dexterity, but now, on the African continent, Homo habilis, the same ancestor of the genus Homo, makes basic stone tools, chipping pebbles to create sharp edges.
Regular Manufacturing
Homo habilis (skilled man) can now make precision finger movements. Tool making is now a regular activity and much evidence of its prowess is being left over large areas of Africa, from Olduvai in Tanzania to Lake Turkana in Kenya, as well as in parts of Ethiopia and further south such as Sterkfontein, in South Africa.
